Club Captains
Captains of Quintin Boat Club
As is related in the Club History, Quintin Boat Club came into being as a "club within a club" to give members of the Polytechnic Rowing Club the opportunity to compete at ARA regattas and, particularly, Henley Royal Regatta. With the settling of differences on the definition of amateur status in 1938 the raison d'etre of Quintin rather disappeared. Moves were afoot from 1937 for the two clubs to be merged, and it is believed this finally happened in 1951. The Polytechnic students' rowing club grew up as a separate entity in the 1920s and should not be confused with the Polytechnic Rowing Club.
With this in mind we present a list of captains which includes those of the Polytechnic as well as those of Quintin, although it can be seen from the list that often the two posts were embodied in the same person. When not otherwise indicated, the captain is for Quintin.
