Squads

Quintin is a relatively small club, which means that the newcomer has every opportunity to become a key player. Whether you are a complete beginner, an experienced racing oarsman or oarswoman, or of mature age and looking for some veteran rowing (racing or recreational), Quintin can accommodate you. The following gives a flavour of what is available.

Senior Men

The Quintin men's senior squad are focused on racing at the autumn sculling heads, major regattas and Henley Royal Regatta, under the guidance of coach Mervyn Lee.

Senior Women

Currently our experienced women take part in the sculling ladder (see below).

Novices/Senior 4

Quintin is committed to developing novices and welcomes people new to the sport at any age. People with limited racing experience are also encouraged to progress under the watchful eye of coach John Peters. John also looks after a flourishing "Mums" squad, who take to the water on weekday mornings.

The Sculling Ladder

Malcolm Cook organises a regular sculling ladder at the weekend. All are encouraged to join in and handicaps are monitored daily :)

This group form the backbone of the Quintin Sculling Championship and are involved in the other squads as well.

Veterans

Our veteran scullers are metaphorically striking gold with fifteen pennants so far in the Autumn sculling heads. Some good summer racing is anticipated.

BarFlies

The BarFlies are an active group of 40 and 50 somethings with just the right ratio between international jollies to Berlin and Brugge and training. The squad boats an VIII regularly at the weekends and takes part in the odd regatta in the summer.

Vice Presidents

The Vice Presidents boat VIIIs, IVs and Quads on Wednesdays and at the weekends. Anyone of Vet C to Vet G status is welcome. You do not have to be a Vice President to join :)

Touring

Armin Schussler is very keen to import rowing touring from his native Germany, and has already organised successful trips to the River Moselle and the Caledonian Canal, although the Scottish weather rather curtailed the row on Loch Ness. It is hoped to tour the Wey Navigation one weekend next spring, which should prove a little more benign.
