EW Bingham captioned this photograph "Chester - Head of the River (14th) - 1938. The club had two crews at the North of England Head of the River Race in 1938: Quintin I finished 8th out of 27 and Quintin II finished 17th. The personnel named in this photograph finished 14th equal in the 1938 tideway Head of the River Race, rowing as Quintin II and beating Quintin I by 15 seconds. Perhaps this is what the caption referred to. The crew order is that recorded for the tideway race.
Back row: H Huckle (stroke), WEC Horwood (7), SEJ Hart (6), TG Richardson (5).
Front row: W Skelton (4), JR Lindley (3), EW Bingham (cox, seated), WJ Brace (2), LJ Ince (bow).
