Our Thames Cup eight approaching the finishing line at the end of a practice row. Note the "spade" blades, new that season - the 1960 Thames Cup crew were using conventional oars.
Bill Barry recalls that the crew stayed in a railway carriage in the sidings in Wargrave, presumably one of the many "camping coaches" that British Railways, and the railway companies before them, used to park in quiet country and seaside stations during the summer months for use as holiday homes.
