Vichy 1989 FISA World Masters Regatta

Newly arrived for the FISA World Masters regatta at Vichy in 1989, Graham Lloyd, Doug Pickup and Tom Fitzpatrick inspect the course and boating facilities. Together with Roger Hine, they raced in Veteran B coxed and coxless fours, narrowly coming second to a crew from Hamburg in the coxed event. In the coxless event the next day, they again drew the same Hamburg four and determined to beat them. This they did, but both crews failed to respond to the Dutch crew sneaking through on the inside to take first place. Undaunted, the Quintin four teamed up with Pat Casey, Dave Redwood, Matt Stallard and Chris Pierce from Vesta to win Vet B VIIIs. In this race they romped home first on the 1000m course with Kingston R.C. in second place 2 lengths back leading the rest of the field. Unfortunately we have no photographic evidence.
