This is the final of the clinker division of the Mortlake Handicap Sculling Gala, May 1967

The race was organised by Thames Tradesmen R.C. in association with Bert Barry and ran from the mid '60's through to the early 70's. It was a v' popular event, in this year 43 best boats and 80 clinker boats raced a 1000 yards course along the Mortlake Reach.
Such was Bert's fame in the wider sporting world that in '67 Sir Stanley Rouse, President of FIFA, and who had the previous year handed Bobby Moore The World Cup at Wembley, was guest of honour and the Lord Cottesloe presented the prizes, which were a pair of Aylings wooden sculling blades.
