Club members assembled outside the boathouse for a group photograph.
In the July 1905 edition of the Polytechnic Magazine the honorary secretary, W. Roworth wrote, "The Club photo was taken on the evening of [Saturday 1 July, after the clubs One Mile Sculling Handicap], and I regret that there was not a better attendance, but I suppose the bad weather earlier in the day frightened some of the fellows away; however, I anticipate that all members will take a copy."
One may speculate what everyone is looking at. It certainly wasn't Chiswick Bridge as the photograph predates its existence by nearly thirty years.
