Quintin Boat Club losing to Tokyo Imperial University in the quarter-final of the Grand Challenge Cup.
This photograph was published in the Times newspaper the following day with the caption "JAPANESE CREW WIN.—The crew of Tokyo Imperial University made their first appearance at Henley yesterday and created much interest by their style of rowing and in the lightness of their boat. They are seen in their race with Quintin Boat Club in the Grand Challenge Cup which they won easily." The official verdict was two lengths and the Japapese were reported to be rating 56 along the enclosures.
