"A good race up to Fawley, where Jesus led by half a length. From there they went away and won by one and a half lengths." [HRR] "Jesus II, rowing with considerable life and dash, outpaced the Quintin club, composed of members of the Polytechnic, who were making a first appearance at Henley. Quintin rowed pluckily and kept Jesus going all the way." [The Times] "In terribly bad weather Jesus led a little at the start in the shelter with 37 to 36, and as Quintin rowed very pluckily in the wind the Cambridge crew were only half a length ahead at the second signal, and reached Fawley in 4m 1s. From there Jesus went steadily away, and won by one and a half lengths in 8m 24s." [Almanack] |
